A Preview Of Our Training Journey

Fuzzles Dog Training works with a limited number of clients at a time to be sure each case receives the appropriate attention. As such, assessments and lessons are not available for purchase directly from the website. Click the button below so we can have a short chat about what you're looking for before getting started!

Step One: Assessment

Have you ever jumped into working on something too fast, just to struggle without a solid plan?
Realize you need to do something else first?
Or get all the way through it, just to find out it didn't need to be done?

If we have never worked together, our first meeting will be an initial assessment focused on setting us up for success. This first session serves multiple purposes-

  • Share information about the household, scheduling, dog, and behaviors looking to be taught or addressed

  • Discuss potential reasons why behavior is happening, exchange relevant resources

  • Set realistic goals that will most improve quality of life for everyone within a set amount of time

  • Establish a basic management plan to prevent the occurrence of unwanted behaviors

  • Determine necessary actions to take before training begins, such as a vet checkup, diet change, medication assessment, etc.

  • Get to know each other better to ensure we are a good fit before a large investment is made

  • Determine which training format is best suited to your situation and most likely to lead to success

Urban environments bring up many different responses from dogs which can be difficult to read, even for a professional! Training the same behaviors looks very different if the dog is anxious, excited, or overstimulated, so we do not start training until after we're both on the same page about where we're starting, and what we're aiming for.

O Hai!

Am I doing this right? What was that thing he said again?
Why isn't this working? I don't know what to do in this situation!
I need help!!

Step Two: Training

Information from the assessment is used to determine key learning goals that will significantly impact daily life for the dog and human. Sessions then focus on giving clients the necessary skills to handle and train their dog - because I won't be there when you need to use them! Instead of getting into the nitty-gritty and technicalities of training theory, our time together is spent refining your body mechanics so you can practice alone and develop appropriate muscle memory for on-the-go use.

Training is only sold in packages so we are both on the same page about length of training commitment, goals within a timeframe, and pacing. Packages may vary slightly but are set up to provide ample support throughout the training process so you're never left feeling lost or confused. Clients are encouraged to reach out for help any time!

Each Week Of Training Includes At Minimum:

1 Focus Session

45-Minute in-home or virtual coaching sessions focused on teaching new skills or adding complexity to your practice. Watch how it's done, then try it yourself! Nobody is perfect on Day 1, so we'll make adjustments until you're at a good place to practice on your own.

2 Quick-Coach Sessions

It's happened to us all. You go to do what you learned the next day, and uh...how did it go? I think that's what he said....  Between weekly focus sessions, you'll get 15-minute virtual coaching check-ins to tweak your practice so it's even better!

Daily Office Hours

Because our coaching sessions are dedicated to honing your skills, packages also include access to daily office hours so you can ask all of those burning questions about why your dog does that thing, or talk about something that's not working. This ensures your paid trainer time is efficient and useful!

Once training has been purchased, we will schedule all of our Focus Sessions so you can make plans accordingly. The Quick-Coach sessions are more flexible to schedule but MUST be used before the next Focus Session. Click below for more information on our policies.

One-on-One Training

A basic one-month long package of training support with 3 coaching sessions per week and daily phone/email/text support is $600.

Because of the many additional factors involved in urban environment training, I do not sell blanket or generic packages addressing specific behavioral issues. Instead, I'll offer adjustments to the training format above if it will be beneficial to your specific case.

This can include:

  • Additional virtual coaching

  • Field Trips, Vet Victory Visits, complex training sessions (with additional help)

  • Puppy Pep Talks (for the roller coaster that is a 6 month old dog)

  • Video Review & Feedback, for when training and learning at the same time feels overwhelming

  • Short-Term Day Training and Transfer Sessions

Step Three: What's Next

Congratulations on successfully making it through the training plan! Every personalized package includes extended access to daily office hours until a 60-minute follow-up session two weeks after finishing to address any questions or concerns you may have.

If you are looking to achieve behavior goals that require a variety of training solutions, more than one package may be necessary. This prevents you or your dog from being overwhelmed by learning too many things at the same time! The follow-up session from the first package may be rolled into the second package if requested.

For example, rehabilitating a reactive dog is often more complex than simply teaching behaviors and requires skills from both the handler and dog. Rather than trying to do everything at once, the first package might focus on developing strong navigational cues for the dog while the human learns how to use them successfully in daily life. By the end of the package, daily walks with the dog should be more accessible and result in little to no reactive episodes; not because the dog's feelings have changed, but because the human and dog have the necessary tools to work around them. The client may decide this is workable and decide to stop there! Or, they can purchase a second package to work on rehabilitating the feelings that cause the behavior more directly. This also gives us time to consider other non-training factors that may be contributing to reactivity before working on it directly.
